Wonderful to see Dave and his grandson, as Justin and Juliet were in town with Juniper James. He's not even 3 months old, but absolutely precious. I'm still remember Justin as a high school student, then as a student enrolled in my college classes. I definitely miss the Wooley-Johnson-Sealey crew down the street. For a decade, they've been Connecticut family...alas, nothing sits still.
I did conference with writers in the morning, hiked with the dog, and even met with an ol' graduate student for Pho before heading to bed. Definitely needing soup, as the dryness and my sinuses are throwing my throat and nostrils into a tizzy. In between meeting newborns and heading for soup, I followed a pack of birds into my backyard only to be greeted by the chimes I bought myself for promotion to Full professor. I don't gift myself much, besides sneakers, but I always wanted a good set in my house for the music they made with the winds coaching them along.
Here's to another week.
Sunday Cadence
Day 9 - WriteOut ’25
b.r.crandall
The murmuring of starlings
summoned me outdoors,
as their dance headed north.
My stomach was moving south
in search of Pho.
Life is too short, y’know,
not to hear prayers in the yard…
I am running out of chime,
so gave myself a gift
when those fools voted me
to be part of their full-of-it club …
that game that comes with
my Playa Hata degree
(what the boys call it).
I sit most days now
in hopes of varying wins
from the east & west,
okay with being a loser
wanting nothing but
the best for this world…
…guided by melodic undertones
that sing with their own daily purposes.
