Ah, but she met someone and she will marry him. Joanna's KY crew will be in town, too. Beautiful weather all the way around (same as when Joanna and Justin married in what is usually a disgustingly hot bluegrass August, but it turned out to be cool and livable).
Yesterday, I finally repurposed/regifted a Robert Kennedy poster left to me by a colleague who adored him. I've kept it, not knowing why, but when I got a student named after him because her family cherished what he did for the United States, I knew where it should go: Democracy, Equity, anti-McCarthyism, doing better for the majority....the claim is this is what she stands for, too. It's quite a strong name.
The wedding is a black-tie affair, and I don't even think I own black socks anymore. I got rid of my tuxedo years ago (in fact the last time I tried to put it on, I was like how the hell was I ever able to fit in that?). I removed it from my home...best not to dwell on a younger self or that body (which I never knew I had).
I think I have several black bowties, however, but all my jackets are definitely not black. I don't own black pants, either. We'll see what I can strum up as soon as I can. It's an all weekend affair.
And so we're going to the chapel and we're....gonna get married. I'm happy that my date is Kathy Silver, now a retiree from Bridgeport Public Schools. We look forward to celebrating the mother of the bride.
